Supporting Upper Extremity Recovery Across the Stroke Continuum
October 15, 2026 - Fargo, ND

Mobia Medical is an AOTA Approved Provider of professional development. Course approval ID# 16961. The Live activity format is offered at .1 CEUs, Introductory Level, Occupational Therapy Service Delivery. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA or indicate AOTA approval of a certification or other professional recognition.
This 1-hour free course prepares occupational and physical therapy professionals working in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation to support upper extremity recovery following ischemic stroke. Participants will review practical strategies for early assessment and documentation, protection of the hemiparetic shoulder, management of barriers to active use, and promotion of active movement based on the patient’s current motor presentation. The course emphasizes integrating upper extremity practice into mobility, ADLs, and everyday rehabilitation activities without requiring a separate treatment focus. Participants will also explore the therapist’s role in supporting continuity of care through patient and caregiver education, discharge planning, and awareness of advanced rehabilitation options, including Paired Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) Therapy for appropriate patients in the chronic phase. A longitudinal patient case is used throughout the course to connect evidence with clinical decision-making.
The live class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the neuro recovery of a patient or client. To participate in this course and receive a certificate, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Following successful completion of the course and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz, learners will receive a certificate.
Resources will be provided for you to take back to your practice to help you deliver salient, task-based therapy to all of your neuro patients.
We look forward to seeing you at this live event!
