Course Overview

This AOTA approved continuing education class reviews  efficacious evidence-based strategies that drive neuroplastic change resulting in improved upper limb functional recovery. The latest advances in vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) paired with rehabilitation therapy will be reviewed. Clinical considerations and criteria will be discussed along with detailed examples of the patient selection process and clinical and functional outcomes.


The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this CEU and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .1 CEUs or 1 contact hours, following completion of the presentation and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz. You will have 90 days to complete this course.

Amanda is an occupational therapist with 7 years working in outpatient neurological rehab; she is a certified brain injury specialist, a certified neurological specialist and certified in LSVT BIG. Amanda is the Lead OT for AdventHealth's outpatient neurological clinics across central Florida where she is able to train and educate her team on evidence-based practices for their diverse patient population. She led the development of the Vivistim Therapy Rehab program across 11 of AdventHealth's clinics and has personally worked with 10 Vivistim patients. Amanda's greatest passion is improving the functional use of a hemiplegic upper extremity post-stroke and she is excited to share her experience and build awareness of Vivistim as an option to maximize these individuals' potential.
