Course Overview

This live course is intended to provide a more thorough understanding of how to improve upper extremity motor function and tone management in the chronic post-stroke population. We will review evidence-based interventions that will drive neuroplastic change resulting in improved upper limb recovery and occupational performance in the severely impaired stroke population.  

The live class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the neuro recovery of a patient or client. To participate in this course and receive a certificate, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Following successful completion of the course and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz, learners will receive a certificate.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify 3 evidence-based treatment strategies/techniques that can improve upper limb function/occupational performance following stroke.

  • Recall key pharmaceutical tone management options for post-stroke patients.

  • Identify 3 ways to modify an ADL/IADL task, using task analysis strategies, to maximize the functional use and independence of the impaired hemiparetic upper limb.

Nicole is a dedicated neurological occupational therapist with nearly 10 years of experience in treating both adult and pediatric neurological conditions. With a deep commitment to improving patient care, she has made significant strides in treatment innovation and clinical outcomes. Recently recognized as "Innovator of the Month" at Tampa General Hospital for her groundbreaking work with Vivistim, Nicole is committed to advancing care for stroke patients. Nicole holds the following certifications, including Certified Brain Injury Specialist, Certified Functional Vision Rehab Specialist and LSVT BIG Certified Clinician. Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tampa and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Florida. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and boating to unwind and stay inspired.
