Course Overview
This AOTA-approved continuing education course equips clinicians with practical, evidence-based strategies to help stroke survivors regain upper limb function by harnessing the brain’s remarkable capacity for neuroplasticity. Participants will explore current challenges in delivering effective stroke rehabilitation and review key concepts and the latest scientific evidence on how the brain reorganizes after stroke, grounded in the required reading, Recovery from Stroke: Current Concepts and Future Perspectives by Grefkes and Fink. The course will cover how to apply principles of motor relearning and neuroplasticity effectively throughout all stages of recovery.
Attendees will also learn about the newest advances in paired vagus nerve stimulation, including real-world examples of combining stimulation with purposeful, task-specific activities. Clear guidance will be provided on patient selection and clinical decision-making to integrate these techniques into everyday practice. By the end of this course, clinicians will have fresh tools and greater confidence to deliver therapy that not only follows the best evidence but actively helps rewire the brain for meaningful recovery.
The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this CEU and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .15 CEUs or 1.5 contact hours, following completion of the presentation and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz. You will have 90 days to complete this course.
